If you want something really fun to do for the fall season, definitely check out Harbes (pronounced “har bees”). Based on the North Fork of Long Island, there are three locations; Mattituck, Jamesport, and Riverhead.
My friends and I went to the Riverhead location and it was a wonderful time They have an amazing pumpkin patch, apple picking, a full service food station, an area where kids can run around, a corn maze; It is a full day excursion! As adults, we didn’t spend but a couple of hours there, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat! (Added suggestion: If you’re not bringing kids, to complete the day, you can also hit up any of the local wineries – a must on the North Fork – which are short drives away). We decided to hit up our favorite Sparkling Pointe of Southhold!
An important thing to remember is each of the three locations are different. For example, Riverhead is only open on the weekends and the only one that has apple picking. So, you may want to hit up their web site to make sure which location is best for you. Another pro tip would be to get there as early as you can to avoid the height of traffic and get the best parking. I arrived at 10a and traffic was starting to build up quick. Props to the traffic directors guiding the cars. They are all located on Sound Avenue and that road gets LOADED UP. Check out http://www.harbesfamilyfarm.com/ for hours and other deets.
For this weekend, I’m headed out to the North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck to see a fun production of Young Frankenstein! My write up for BroadwayWorld will be posted on Wednesday! 🙂
Have a great weekend!
