Happy Weekend!!!!

Happy almost weekend, folks!! I am sooooooooooooo excited for this weekend because I am going to be writing up a local production of the musical Ragtime! This was actually the very first Broadway show I ever attended. And I’m honored to say that I saw it with Audra McDonald! Well, I THINK it was the first Broadway show that I attended… I attended Footloose around the same time, but I’m leaning more towards Ragtime.

Anyhooo, the one I’m seeing this weekend is being presented by the BroadHollow Theatre Company which located in East Islip and they also have a location in Elmont. They usually take their shows to both locations, which is AMAZING. The team there is wonderful, too.

I feel this one is truly going to be special! Their link is http://www.broadhollow.org/bayway-arts-center/bayway-main-stage/ragtime-bw/. You can click to BroadHollow’s homepage when you’re there if needed.

So, I’ll close here! My write up will be posted next week! Enjoy!!! XO

Happy Weekend!

Hello, Everyone!

First, I can’t believe I forgot to write about attending Charlie And The Chocolate Factory on Broadway! Overall, it is super cute and I definitely recommend you check it out! Was is perfect? It had its corny moments, but you will be smiling through the entire show. I was also thrilled to see Christian Borle who is FANTASTIC as Willie Wonka. They had a great deal of fun with the decor, too… inside and outside the theatre! (a few photos below courtesy of my BFF Steph) GAWD I LOVE BROADWAY!!!!!!!

As for my local theatre that I write up for BroadwayWorld, there are, oddly, no shows opening this weekend! BUT it is my friend Jillian’s birthday festivities and we are going to a little deeeeeelish Argentine place in Huntington call Cafe Buenos Aries (Can’t imagine how they came up with the name! LOL)!! They are at http://www.cafebuenosaires.net/ if you wanted to look them up. Top notch, they are!

Have an amazing weekend! XOXO

Exciting Weekend Ahead!

I am very excited to see one of my favorite shows this weekend!

Jonathan Larson’s Rent holds a special place in my heart. It opened on Broadway just about the same time I started getting into theatre, it was the first score I learned in its entirety, it was the first show that I researched the backstory (its creative process, ext), and it was the first Broadway show I attended after a lengthy (too long I care to admit! LOL) absence from being in a Broadway theatre audience. It short, it reinvigorated my love for theatre.

A local incarnation opened last night at the beautiful Gateway Theatre in Bellport and has another preview performance tonight (5/18/2017) before officially opening Friday (5/19/2017) and running through June 3rd. I’ll be seeing Saturday and I can’t wait!

The Gateway is a wonderful theatre, too. They get amazing artists for their shows typically mixing local and Broadway actors. Even though they have lots of stuff year-round including theatrical educational programs and the famed Haunted House, their main stage season is during the Summer.

Anyhooo… my article about the show will be posted next Tuesday! Can’t wait to tell you about it! AND tomorrow I am also headed to the exciting Season Announcement Party at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre! Very exciting weekend to say the least!
